Every car starts at 50 points. The factors below add or take away points, and the result is always between 0 and 100. A factor whose data is missing is not counted at all.
What is scored
Annual mileage
Kilometres driven per year of the car’s age, compared with a typical 15,000 km a year.
- up to 10,500 km a year+10
- 10,500 km a year to 18,000 km a year0
- 18,000 km a year to 24,000 km a year-7
- over 24,000 km a year-15
Accident history
The accident history as the seller declared it. A car whose seller did not declare it is not scored on this factor.
- One accident-5
- No accident+5
- Several accidents-15
Levels
- Excellent90–100 points
- Very good75–89 points
- Good60–74 points
- Fair40–59 points
- Poor0–39 points
Confidence
Confidence says nothing about the car itself, only how much data the calculation had: a decoded VIN, the mileage, a declared accident history, declared equipment and a market estimate. Medium confidence needs at least 2 of them, high at least 4.
What Car Score is not
Car Score is currently based on annual mileage and the seller's declared accident history, under this platform's published methodology. It is not a valuation, a verified vehicle history, a condition assessment, or moderator approval.
Methodology version 1.0, in effect since 3 Nov 2026.
